FAQs

When should I consider spine surgery?

I believe that surgery should be the last option when it comes to treating spinal conditions of the neck and back. However, after the non-surgical treatments have been exhausted with no improvements or the symptoms are worsening over a 6-12 month time period, surgery may be a reasonable option. Each patient is different and the decision for surgery should be individualized based off of each patient’s symptoms and level of function.

Our office accepts almost all of the major insurances. A list is presented on our website at Neospine.net, If you don’t see your insurance listed, please give us a call at 253-841-8839 and we would be happy to answer your questions.

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MIS) continues to grow in popularity and most spine procedures can now be done with MIS techniques. However, there are still certain patients who would benefit more from a standard open procedure. These include high degree scoliosis, tumors, and certain infections or trauma.

Dr. Nwosu performs his surgeries at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, Washington, as well as an Outpatient Surgery Center directly across the hall from his clinic called the Microsurgical Spine Center. If surgery is needed, where you will be having surgery is dependent primarily on severity of symptoms and function.
