Using cutting-edge surgical and non-surgical techniques, he tailors every procedure to each patient’s condition and goals. From cervical to lumbar procedures, our Bellevue clinic offers the highest level of precision in spine care.

Cervical Spine Treatments

Restoring Strength and Mobility to the Neck and Upper Spine

Cervical spine treatments address disc disease, nerve compression, and spinal instability in the neck. Dr. Nwosu uses both traditional and minimally invasive surgical techniques to restore alignment and protect spinal cord function.

This procedure removes damaged or herniated discs from the neck through a small incision in the front, relieving pressure on the nerves or spinal cord. Fusion using bone grafts then stabilizes the treated vertebrae for improved alignment and pain relief.

In this procedure, the back of the cervical spine is accessed to remove bone or tissue pressing on the spinal cord. After decompression, fusion helps maintain spinal stability. It is often recommended for patients with cervical stenosis or myelopathy.

This minimally invasive procedure enlarges the opening where nerve roots exit the spinal canal, reducing pain and tingling caused by compression. It preserves motion and may serve as an alternative to full fusion surgery.

Cervical laminoplasty creates more room for the spinal cord by reconstructing the lamina (the back of the spinal canal). This approach is ideal for multi-level spinal stenosis, preserving mobility while relieving nerve pressure.

Instead of removing motion entirely through fusion, disc replacement maintains flexibility by implanting an artificial disc. Dr. Nwosu uses advanced prosthetic materials to restore natural motion while eliminating pain from damaged discs.

Lumbar Spine Treatments

Precision Treatments for Lower Back, Nerve, and Disc Conditions

Lumbar spine procedures target pain and dysfunction in the lower back caused by disc herniations, spinal stenosis, or instability. Dr. Nwosu specializes in minimally invasive surgeries designed for faster recovery, reduced pain, and long-term stability.

This procedure removes part of the vertebral bone (lamina) to create space for the spinal cord and nerves. It helps relieve pain, numbness, or weakness caused by lumbar stenosis or nerve compression.

A precise, minimally invasive surgery used to remove small portions of herniated disc material that are compressing spinal nerves. It is one of the most successful procedures for relieving leg pain associated with sciatica.

Performed through the lower abdomen, ALIF removes a damaged disc and replaces it with a bone graft or implant. This approach avoids back muscles, leading to less pain and quicker recovery.

TLIF restores spinal stability through a single posterior approach, removing damaged discs and fusing adjacent vertebrae. It is particularly beneficial for spondylolisthesis and degenerative disc disease.

For select patients, artificial disc replacement preserves spinal motion while eliminating pain from diseased discs. Dr. Nwosu uses state-of-the-art implants to mimic natural movement and prevent adjacent disc issues.

LLIF uses a side approach to the lower spine, minimizing muscle disruption while stabilizing the affected vertebrae. It is commonly used to treat disc collapse or instability with minimal recovery time.

Kyphoplasty treats spinal compression fractures caused by osteoporosis or trauma. Using a balloon-assisted device, Dr. Nwosu restores spinal height and injects bone cement to relieve pain and stabilize the fracture.

The SI joints connect the spine to the pelvis and can become painful due to instability. Minimally invasive SI joint fusion stabilizes the joint using specialized implants, relieving lower back and buttock pain.

The TOPS (Total Posterior Spine System) Procedure is a motion-preserving surgical solution for lumbar spinal stenosis or spondylolisthesis. Instead of fusing the spine, this implant maintains movement between vertebrae, allowing flexibility while stabilizing the spine and relieving pressure on affected nerves.
